چکیده

The design of a CMOS 22–29-GHz pulse-radar receiver (RX) front-end for ultra-wideband automotive radar sensors is presented. The chip includes a low-noise amplifier, in-phase/quadrature mixers, a quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (QVCO), pulse formers, and baseband variable-gain amplifiers. Fabricated in a 0.18m CMOS process, the RX front-end chip occupies a die area of 3 mm . On-wafer measurements show a conversion gain of 35–38.1 dB, a noise figure of 5.5–7.4 dB, and an input return loss less than 14.5 dB in the 22–29-GHz automotive radar band. The phase noise of the constituent QVCO is 107 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset from a center frequency of 26.5 GHz. The total dc power dissipation of the RX including output buffers is 131 mW.

A 3 ~ 5 GHz CMOS UWB Radar Chip for Surveillance and Biometric Applications

A 3-5 GHz UWB radar chip in 0.13 m CMOS process is presented in this paper. The UWB radar transceiver for surveillance and biometric applications adopts the equivalent time sampling architecture and 4-channel time interleaved samplers to relax the impractical sampling frequency and enhance the overall scanning time. The RF front end (RFFE) includes the wideband LNA and 4-way RF power splitter,...

A 0.17-nJ/Pulse IR-UWB Receiver Based on Distributed Pulse Correlator in 0.18-μm Digital CMOS

This paper presents a low power impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) receiver based on a reconfigurable, high speed analog correlator called distributed pulse correlator (DPC). The DPC incorporates built-in local template pulse generation, and hence significantly reduces the power consumption and circuit complexity of the analog correlation receiver. A chip prototype of the IR-UWB receiver was...

WIDEBAND ON-CHIP K-BAND RF FRONT-END FOR VEHICULAR FMCW RADAR APPLICATIONS IN 0.18 μm CMOS PROCESS

In this paper, we present a wideband on-chip K-band RF front-end including a transmitter and receiver for vehicular FMCW radar applications using 0.18μm CMOS process. To achieve wideband performance, an RC feedback circuit is applied to the input stage of amplifiers, as well as wideband passive circuits such as Marchand type baluns and Wilkinson type power dividers to the mixer LO port and tran...

A low power 3–5 GHz CMOS UWB receiver front-end∗

A novel low power RF receiver front-end for 3–5 GHz UWB is presented. Designed in the 0.13 μm CMOS process, the direct conversion receiver features a wideband balun-coupled noise cancelling transconductance input stage, followed by quadrature passive mixers and transimpedance loading amplifiers. Measurement results show that the receiver achieves an input return loss below −8.5 dB across the 3....
